Delivering a versatile and user-friendly decontamination solution for a newly built BSL-3 laboratory focused on advanced biological research.
The University of Gdansk constructed a new BSL-3 laboratory to support high-level biological research that requires strict contamination control. To ensure safe and efficient decontamination processes, the university selected Cleamix vaporized hydrogen peroxide technology as its primary room decontamination system.
The facility needed a solution that could operate flexibly across different rooms and scenarios, provide documented validation data and support user-friendly operation for laboratory personnel. Cleamix met these requirements with a mobile, high-performance system designed for demanding biosafety environments.
Supporting biosafety and operational flexibility
Cleamix systems use vaporized hydrogen peroxide to achieve high microbicidal efficacy, including up to 6 log reduction in microbial load. The mobile design enables the decontamination unit to be moved between rooms and zones, allowing one device to serve multiple controlled environments within the BSL-3 facility.
The system’s portability and ease of setup were key factors in the university’s decision. Laboratory staff can perform decontamination cycles quickly without complex preparation work or fixed infrastructure.
User-friendly operation and improved documentation
The Cleamix device includes a Polish-language touch screen interface designed to support intuitive use and reduce training needs for laboratory personnel. Remote control and monitoring provide additional flexibility, enabling operators to oversee decontamination cycles from outside the controlled area.
To support documentation and compliance, the system automatically generates electronic reports. These records simplify validation tasks, reduce manual paperwork and help maintain consistent traceability for every decontamination cycle.
Strengthening contamination control in a high-risk environment
By integrating Cleamix technology into the new BSL-3 laboratory, the University of Gdansk benefits from:
- mobile and versatile decontamination capability
- up to 6 log microbicidal reduction
- improved operational safety
- reduced training requirements through a user-friendly interface
- enhanced traceability and automated documentation
- remote control and better visibility of each cycle
The solution supports safe and efficient contamination control in one of the university’s most regulated research environments.
